We see many people in this world who have every comfort and good fortune and everything they need, and yet they lead an empty life. Their life may be more unhappy than that of someone who is starving. He whose soul is starving is more to be pitied than he whose body is starving: for the one whose body is starving is still alive, but the one whose soul is starving is dead.
