There are five bodies considered by the mystics of old to be the vehicles of the soul, which are called:

• Anandamayakosh, body of Joy,
• Vignanamayakosh, body of Wisdom,
• Manamayakosh, body of Mind,
• Pranamayakosh, body of Ether,
• Annamayakosh, body of Earth.
